Memorial Day weekend sewing and fun

It was crazy hot this weekend, so I chose to stay inside for the most part. I watched many, many movies and did some sewing. I made a dress for Rebecca (identical to one I made for Shannon earlier this year) and two size 5 tops (the largest size that pattern came in). The tops are loose - they may fit Shannon as well as MG, but not sure about Rebecca.
Sunday I had a couple house guests - Zeek was doing some painting, so Ami and Peter took refuge with me and we watched some Harry Potter. I went over to their place on Monday. Zeek grilled, but I stayed in the AC with Ami and Peter and others. I made snickerdoodles and a couscous vegetable thing that was only partly made up. It turned out very yummy! I've been doing tons of sewing lately, and the girls will all have plenty of new clothes! Too bad I don't have as much boy friendly fabric to use up!

Skates and Scooters

While Connor had his Daddy date, Catherine and I took the other kids to a park, MG with her scooter (which I keep wanted to spell skooter, for some reason) and rollerblades for Shannon that Catherine had packed away for just such an occasion.  MG zipped past us while Catherine gave Shannon some skating instruction.  I tried out the razor scooter, and decided that I'm much safer on my own two feet.

MG is too fast for my camera!

Jack looks so long-suffering

Look out, Jack will be skating off any day now

Monterey Bay Aquarium, Part 3

Then we went to the penguin and children's play/touch area.  Much fun was had.
Penguins.  I fought to get even this close.  Penguins are popular.

MG and Connor in the penguin egg.  Two peas in a pod?

Oh, all this aquarium going has worn me out!

So blurry, but Jack was so cute and fascinated in this tunnel.  And yes, I crawled into the tunnel to take his picture.

Jack's traffic cop series.

Nice when your sister will let you hitch a ride.  Also, a view of my hairstyling handiwork.
Tired Jack

The view from above, still raining.

Monterey Bay Aquarium, Part 2

So, then we went inside.  There was so much to see, though not that much that I could photograph well.

This wave wall was very dramatic, and also the scene of some drama.  Shannon was trying to stage manage where everyone would stand, and Connor, I think, did not want to cooperate.  I have some hilarious sulky Shannon pictures.  But you can get a sense from these.

Jack thinks it's cool too.
